Gratitude | Napa Family Photographer is very grateful |

In the name of gratitude.  Last week two wonderful fellow photographers, Dana Pugh of Short and Sweet Photography and Tara Whitney posted a challenge on twitter, a ‘Gratitude Challenge’. 5 images that express gratitude. While I have endless things to be grateful for, taking time to photograph ‘my own’ stuff does not happen as much as I’d like, or should I say, getting the chance to edit ‘my own’ stuff.  Because truthfully, I photograph like a mad woman.  My kids joke that my camera is actually a part of my body.  It’s both a gift and a curse!  And so, like many, many other photographers I’m sure, I took the challenge!  I didn’t actually get started on this until mid-day yesterday, as I had a booked out weekend.  But hey, it’s a start and I have a feeling that I’m not the only one who will take this challenge with me into the weeks ahead.

So here it is, a quick glimpse into my afternoon and just a few things that I am so very grateful for:

Yes, I’m grateful for my family.  I’m crazy for these boys!  My husband wouldn’t let me take his photograph yesterday, so I only have his hands down there in the bottom left pocket holding one of the cute little salamanders we so often find in our backyard.  I’m grateful for the hand prints that still live on our backyard fence from  years ago when my beautiful boys were much younger.

Yum, speaking of the backyard, I’m grateful for (and eager to eat) the first Sungold tomato that appeared on this plant!
Oh Koda!  I’m grateful for our (technically, he’s my youngest son’s dog — he just reminded me)  silly dog.  This sweet dog has added so much to our lives.  He gives us so much love, makes us laugh, keeps us safe from bears on camping trips — well, at least he growls a lot and makes us feel better even though there’s just a thin layer of tent material between ‘us & them’!  We all love this deep breathy thing that Koda does.  It’s this wonderful deep exhale that is just one of the most relaxing things to hear.  It reminds you to breathe as well.
Poolside bookclub meeting yesterday, how fun!  It was the first time most of us could meet together in quite along time.  We were there for so long, it was wonderful being with everyone like that.  We had lots of good food, good wine, good weather and great conversation!  We all brought books that we have already read to do a ‘book exchange’ as well.  We mapped out the books that would take us through this next year, but I honestly don’t remember which one we’re reading first, we were having too much fun!
Awww, a nice cup of coffee to get things going is so very nice.  I have given coffee up about four times and I can’t seem to stay away, oh well….
Thanks for taking a peek into my little bit of joy and gratitude.  And thank you all of my dear clients and friends who allow me to be a part of your lives with my camera and my heart.  There will be much more to come.
